This thesis is trying to make a little progress to the situation.The thesis is divided into three parts to discuss Mulloy’s extreme animation, which is led by different subjects, between the year 1991 to 2004. The three parts are the general situation of the adult animation, the discussion of the subjects of Mulloy’s animation and its artistic style and creation technique. The first chapter is mainly about adult animation’s historical origin and concept, the current situation of the adult animation today and the essential property of Mulloy’s work,with an extra analysis of its position in adult animation world. The second chapter is mainly about the analysis of the subjects of Mulloy’s animation, such as human nature, class and civilization, religion, violence and sex. The last chapter discusses the unique use of black humor, color and sounds, and the straight ways of expression in the animation.The research on Mulloy’s animation is trying to explore the characteristics of the adult animation, so as to introduce it to China, for it surely is a model and an example. More importantly, we can learn from Phil Mulloy for his enthusiasm of the creation and his care and think about the world. When you think, you can make a difference.
