The National Academies are the educational institutes aiming at sending talents with high quality, high skills and national characters to the country, among which, cultivating the ability of English is an indispensable factor for a comprehensive talent. At present, the major teaching mode of College English in universities of nationalities is still PowerPoint classroom demonstration and students’autonomous learning. Therefore, there exist some problems:students’learning enthusiasm is not high, information literacy of the teachers and students is not high enough, the use rate of software and hardware resources is not high and teaching mode can not meet the technological innovation and the need of teachers and students. It is hot issue for the current curriculum reform to build new English teaching model with characteristics of students-oriented. After comparing three current popular new teaching modes as WebQuest, ThinkQuest and M-Learning and integrating the current situation of network teaching and mobile learning in Beifang University of Nationalities, the paper thought that M-Learning teaching mode with its many advantages can solve the college English teaching problems in universities of nationalities. For example, the functions as hobbies push, teachers’workflow control, sharing, reminding, interaction and anytime, tracking or continuation of English teaching and learning plan anytime & anywhere by using a variety of electronic equipment through the cloud platform can further improve the shortage of College English network teaching. Therefore, the paper intends to apply M-learning to College English Teaching in Beifang University of Nationalities. It is hoped that it can put forward some countermeasures and suggestions for improving English teaching quality in the university and provide some reference of the college English reforms for universities in other national regions.The results of the paper indicates that the reform of College English teaching mode should focus on enhancing the information literacy of the teachers and students synchronously, refining teaching strategies through information technology so as to optimize the effect of teaching inside class and interaction outside the class. Furthermore, we should change our minds to make full use of characteristics of mobile learning as convenience, high efficiency, anytime and anywhere to broaden the platform of College English teaching.
