Review Of Lefebvre’s Urban Space Production Theory

Henri Lefebvre is one of the representatives of Western Marxism, with the acceleration of global urbanization, his theory of critical of daily life and theory of production of space are gradually valued by academics in many countries. With the analysis of his theory of urban space production, this paper try to combing the theory and hope to provide some theoretical ideas for the urbanization process in China.Firstly, This paper analyzes the current research on space theory, by contrast, we can find out the inadequate in domestic and international research in the field of urban space on this basis, we back to the times of the Henri Lefebvre, after reading and thinking about his representative book----the production of space, to establish a basic framework for the theory of production of space, and further define the concept of space, triple dimension of space, the space’s main content and so on. Then we refine the Lefebvre’s urban space production theory, meanwhile, looking for differences in the production of space, providing certain ideas for socialism, and also trying to provide some theoretical reference for the current process of urbanization in China.The Lefebvre’s urban space production theory were produced in the 1960 s in Western countries, but have enriched the Marxist theory of urban space, it still has some positive effects on China’s current urban development.
