The Relationship Between Shen Cong-wen’s Recreating The Idea Ofnational Virtue And Xiang-xi’s Culture

Shen Cong-wen is a Modern novelist. His life is very rough. He had been the reputation as “the text of the magician”, and been misinterpreted as “emptiness writer”. His Western novels pastoral rage, not only got a lot of young people favor, but also was criticized for no thinking of work. His criticism of the reality works has been put on the “reactionaries” hat. The worry and grief hidden behind work is often overlooked. His ideology of “Recreating national virtue” is not being taken seriously. In the case of external pressure and spirit tends to collapse, he start to studying historical relics, and exit literature for a long time. However, Shen Cong-wen is a visionary writer. His works also withstand erosion history. His ideal of “Recreate” is worth people to continue to study.Dissertation consists of three parts. The first part is an introduction. Introduction includes sources of topic, domestic experts and scholars researching on Shen Cong-wen’s morality and ethics. Then, it pointed out the direction and focus of this research. The second part is the main part of the paper, divided into three chapters to discuss. The first chapter is “Xiang-xi culture and Xiang-xi of works”. It describes the unique history and cruel reality of Xiang-xi culture, and examples different “Xiang-xi world” from different writers, such as Han Shao-gong, Sun Jian-zhong, and Cai Ce-hai. Then, Shen Cong-wen’s worlds are compared with theirs, in order to stressing charming scenery, kindly humans and mysterious customs. Next, it explore the closely relationship between Shen Cong-wen and Xiang-xi. Xiang-xi is a real life, but also an ideal utopia for him. The second and third chapters are the most important part of the discussion. The second chapter mainly analyzes novels and essays about Xiang-xi. It includes the beauty nature and the destruction for human nature. These analyzes reflect the author’s understanding of human nature, love for nice humanity. The third chapter studies the works of urban, criticizes problems about modern social, and proposes his idea “remake national virtue”. Then, it explains the formation process and the main content. However, ideology is not to be understood. Shen Cong-wen is a thoughtful writer. His works have a profound thought. We should fully understand the importance of this modern writer. The third part is the conclusion. It summarizes main point of the paper, and presented the significance of this study.
