As the second skin of human body, clothing is an indispensable part of human life. The profound Chinese clothing culture has made great contributions to the development of clothing in many other parts of the world. Nowadays, during the globalization process, people around the world communicate with each other more often. Therefore, elements of Chinese clothing have been increasingly popular in foreign countries, which makes the translation of clothing-related texts necessary. On one hand, translators should pass the brilliant Chinese clothing culture on to foreign readers; on the other hand, they should try their best to attract readers’ interest in the gorgeous Chinese clothing history. To help people of different cultures communicate freely, translators should adopt various translation strategies.In this thesis, the author discusses the Chinese-English translation of clothing-related texts from the perspective of intercultural communication. In terms of the difficulties in the translation process, the author tries to explore some corresponding solutions and then summarize some general translation strategies. The first chapter is about the reason for choosing such a topic. The second chapter focuses on the theory used in this thesis and some difficulties in the translation process. The third chapter focuses on a detailed analysis of the difficulties in translation and the corresponding translation strategies. The last chapter is the summary of the significance of this translation study.
