The work 《Grand Chinese Dictionary》 edited by professor Xu Zhongshu is an important reference book. It was published in the 1990s which explained glyph, pronunciation and meaning. Adhering to the principles of including ancient and modern glyph and valuing origin and development, every Chinese character of 《Grand Chinese Dictionary》 quotes oracle, inscriptions, glyph of Warring States Time, seal script and clerical script. It shows evolution of Chinese character and helps readers to understand the origin. However, the ancient glyph quoted by 《Grand Chinese Dictionary》 has been a long time since its emergence, and it involves a wide range and complex contents. There have been some research articles about it, so these articles are used for its revision. In order to play the role of this dictionary, the second edition of 《Grand Chinese Dictionary》 was published in 2011. It is better than 《Grand Chinese Dictionary》 in making a revision. However, the second edition did not revise completely and thoroughly. There are also a lot of articles about the second edition, and so far, there has been no one made a professional and completely revision to it about ancient glyph. For this reason, this paper regards the ancient glyph of the second edition as the research object and attempts to absorb the latest academic research results,in order to revise the wrong glyph systematically and make a comprehensive revision. Through this writing paper, I hope it can serve as a reference for future writing.
