QuanZhen To Be Immortal

Chinese traditional philosophy is mainly life philosophy, in which we can discover Taoist philosophy is more obvious. Early Quanzhen sect’s philosophy brings a new level of Taoist philosophy and exerts profound influence on the development of Chinese culture. The paper tries to show the causes of life philosophy and views on life philosophy comprehensively by explaining their thoughts through philosophical method.The article consists six chapter. The first chapter discusses the causes of life philosophy. This chapter introduces social, cultural factors, the development of Taoism, Qilu and Jiaodong culture in period of Song Dynasty and Jin Dynasty to analyze the theory’s causes with their own individual factors.The second chapter expounds the ontology theory of life, including the theory of Tao-Qi and life structure. Early Quanzhen sect holds that Tao is the nature of life and the origin of life in the world. They establish life noumenon by integrating the thoughts of Qi into ontology. They treat Xing, Ming and essence, energy, spirit as the essential structure of life on the base of Tao-Qi to talk about the approach to be immortal.The third chapter illustrates the essence theory of life, including the theory of body and Xin-Xing. Early Quanzhen sect claims that the body is false, but they pay attention to the body to a certain extent and advocate transforming the false into True Xing. True Xing is the nature of life, but True Xing lost because of physical constraint. In order to reveal True Xing, human being must clarify Xin.The fourth chapter discusses the theory of life value, including the theory of desire and Quanzhen. Early Quanzhen sect thinks that desire covers True Xing and is the reason of sin and samsara, so everyone should remove all secular desire. The pursuit of Quanzhen to be immortal is spiritual transcendence and self-relief. The approach is to become a monk.The fifth chapter talks about the theory of life cultivation, including the theory of Knowledge of Xin and Xing, Cultivation of Xing and Ming, Cultivation of both Gong and Xing. Quiet is the basic principle of Knowledge of Xin and Xing.Early Quanzhen sect uses many methods such as ascetic cultivation, meditation, reading to know Xin and understand Xing. Except for Knowledge of Xin and Xing, human being must also cultivate Ming. Moreover, one can be immortal after Gong and Xing are all be had.The sixth chapter discusses beyond the theory of life, including the theory of immortal and death and immortality. Early Quanzhen sect holds that immortal achieves ideal spiritual realm and transcendence of existence state. Quanzhen to be immortal refers not to the immorality of body, but to the immortality of spirit. The main characteristic is the spiritual state of freedom.
