As a concerning social phenomenon in Chinese history, excessive migration existed in every dynasty. No matter what’s the purpose, migration was always accompanied with emotion, realistic contradiction, living difficulty and social problem etc. Focusing on that, documentary workers created collections of influential migration documentary. With camera, distress life story of people forced from home in different ages, as well as history, humanity, social life and parenthood etc. reflected from those stories, were recorded by creators truly and strongly.Through analyzing relative information and migration documentary, this thesis concludes and summarizes the feature as well as manifestation of migration documentary. This thesis is composed of six chapters. In chapter one, also the introduction, mainly introduces research background, meaning and status. In addition, briefly lists the substance, frame, method and innovation points. In chapter two, by means of migration documentary conception, it explores the key reason of Chinese migration, defines its developmental focus and sequences of ideas. In chapter three, with sample analyzing of representative documentaries, it emphases on elaborating character image from the point of society, culture and individuality.In chapter four, combing with some documentaries, it analyses migrants identity dilemma in perspective of identity absence and culture identity. In chapter five,relying on some samples, explores character manifestation in migration documentary from perspectives of narrative point of view, narrative strategy and audiovisual language. Eventually, in chapter 6, the conclusion part, it discourses the meaning of migration documentary for Chinese documentary development, and also, supplies suggestion and opinion for Chinese migration documentary creation.
