Practice Study Report On C-E Translation Of The Commentary Of Zhang Liang Temple

With the development of new media and the popularization of English inthe world, commentaries of many famous tourist attractions in China have their English translation versions. The translation of tourist attractions commentaries has become a living study material in the study of translation.Translation of tourist attractionshas particularity for it is a cross-cultural communication. The translation should be faithful to the original. The most important thing is the cultural factors carried in the original text should be conveyed to foreign tourists, in order to attracting the eyes of visitors.This translation practice report takes the translation process of Zhang Liang Temple (张良庙) commentary as the main subject. The translation of Zhang Liang Temple commentary is a part of the whole project which is the translation of commentaries of local tourist attractions in Shaanxiprovince. In the process of all the commentaries translations, the author found that the language of the Zhang Liang Temple commentary is the most vivid. It carries a lot of local cultural information which increases the difficulty to translate it. Thus, it became the main research target.This report aims at analyzingthe characteristic of the original language, and finding some translation skills to guide the translation practice. Firstly, this report introduces the characteristics and the development tendency oftourism in Shaanxi Province, and summarizes the background and the significanceof the practice; Secondly, this report details the whole translation process, including preparation, translation, revision and proofreading; Then the report analyses and discusses the difficulties encounteredin the process of translating "Zhang Liang Temple" commentary in terms of the local cultural information words, poems, and artistic conception. According to their special characteristics, and based on the functionalism theory the author adopted some corresponding translation skills of transliteration and amplification, maintaining and supplementation, and adverbial structure and symmetric structure. Finally, the report summarizesup the experience the author has gained in the practiceand expresses her new views about the translation.
