The report introduces the translation of slang in the American West’s novel Texasville. With its special characteristics of the times and the West, the novel provides materials for the people who study the American West’s culture. With the development of economy, people’s spiritual life becomes richer. As a literary genre, novel is increasingly studied and valued by scholars. It’s very important to translate the novel for the people who study culture. Firstly, the background is the settings of a certain age. It can reveal social phenomenon and reflect the social culture. Secondly, the content and language of the novel can also express a part of culture. Therefore, studying the translation of novel can help the scholars who want to know the foreign culture.The report includes four parts: introduction, preparation, case analysis, and conclusion. By the guidance of translation skills like literal translation and free translation, the author analyzes the sorts, characteristics and translation strategies of the slang in her translation of novel.
