Later Wittgenstein’s Rule-following Thought Of Art

By elucidating Later Wittgenstein’s rule-following thought in his "Philosophy Investigation" , this paper explores the Rule-following application in art theory. According to rule-following thought, some problems in art theory are criticized. First, by analyzing Wittgenstein’s rule-following thought, the misuse of the word "rule", rules and rule-following, rule-following and consistency, rule-following and forms of life have been discussed, and Wittgenstein’s basic concepts and methods, and some basic questions of rule-following thought has been clarified. Followed by Wittgenstein’s rule-following thought, I discuss the issues of the creation of art works, inspiration and genius problems, art appreciation and understanding of art works, to appreciate art works "rightly" and other aspects of art theory. At last, I apply rule-following thought into clarify some issues in art theory:the definition of art and the "art world" theory, pointing out the inheritance and misunderstanding of Wittgenstein’s thought. From the perspective of Wittgenstein’s rule-following thought, we can provide a new sight of contemporary art. theory.
