The reason that Thome H. Fang concerns about the problem of nature, is because he concerns about the crisis of the era. As we all know, the 20th century was a turbulent era. Thome H. Fang believe that philosophy can resolve the crisis of era. However, the spirit of philosophy has died in 20th-century, so in order to save the crisis of the times, we must first save the spirit of philosophy.why it will produce the crisis of philosophy? Thome H. Fang believes that it has to do with the concept of nature for Westerners. The biggest problem for the modern Westerners is that the conquer of nature has already taken the place of the pursuit of idealism in their life. In their view, the nature is not the realm of value, is a mechanical field of physical actions and reactions,so it is not a field where human beings can occupy and follow,it leads to the crisis of human’s existence. Thus, in order to save the crisis of the philosophy,we must first save the concept of nature. On the whole, the conception of nature for Thome H. Fang is to establish in criticizing the foundation of Western philosophy view of nature. He illustrates the concept of nature from three aspects.Ontologically considered, it is the all-pervasive Being coming in ingression into the constitution of all derivative beings. It is the primordial One out of which all entities have come into existence. Ontological significance of that is that the universal nature of life.Thome H. Fang explain the ontological significance of nature mainly in the "process".Cosmologically considered, it is the lathe of the miraculous function of change and transformation giving rise to heaven and earth as the interlacing realm in which all things and creatures come to realize the full range of meaning and significance in respect of universal life. The cosmological significance of nature is visible world. Thome H. Fang explain the cosmological significance of nature mainly by a description of the natural world to illustrate it. Thome H. Fang often replace the cosmological problem with the value of theory, blurs the distinction between the two.Axiologically considered, it is the universal concatenation of creative processes achieved in different gradations of values in the form of Beauty,as the essence of the Good, and under the guise of Truth to be finally cast into the mould of consummate perfection. The axiological significance of the nature is "realm". Thome H. Fang often replace the value of theory with the cosmological problem, blurs the distinction between the two. For Thome H. Fang, the axiological significance of the nature differentiate into two species, namely the "realm" of physical nature and the supernatural and metaphysical "realm", the "realm" of the metaphysical nature is the "realm" of science, it is the cosmological problem. The supernatural and metaphysical "realm" is the "realm" of philosophy,it is the value of theory.Enhancing the "realm" is from the "realm" of science to the "realm" of philosophy. For Thome H. Fang, because the "realm" of philosophy is different from the "realm" of science, How Enhancing the "realm" is Possible? Thome H. Fang didn’t solve the problem, that is the main content of of nature for Thome H. Fang.In modern times, along with the introduction of western learning to the east, the Western view of nature is gradually introduced to China, the Chinese is gradually changing their understanding of the universe and life. For Thome H. Fang, because he emphasized the value of the concept of nature in Chinese philosophy and criticize the concept of nature in Western Philosophy, people maybe mistakenly believe that his concept of nature that is purely Chinese philosophy of nature, the fact that it is so? Whether foreign culture affect his understanding of nature or not? Thus, author takes Whitehead’s view of nature as an example to illustrate the source of Thome H. Fang view of nature. Thome H. Fang view of nature inspires us to enhance the "realm",thereby changing view of the world. In addition, the concept of nature for Thome H. Fang has some enlightening for solving modern environmental problems.
