As a report on simulative simultaneous interpreting from English to Chinese, this thesis describes one task about Tim Cook’s speech on Apple’s Fall 2014 Event and analyzes the difficulties the interpreter confronted in the task so as to find out strategies and solutions. In the description of Process of Task, this report highlights the pre-interpreting preparation, which can be divided into 3 phases: early-phase pre-interpreting preparation, middle-phase pre-interpreting preparation, site-choosing pre-interpreting preparation, and explains specific jobs in each phase. In the chapter of Theoretical Guidance and Case Studies, this report firstly discusses theoretical guidance of the task. Then it focuses on series of interpreting strategies and takes typical cases as example in Case Studies. This thesis elaborates the application of Strategy of Linear Interpretation, Simplification, handling of difficult numbers and vocabulary. It is concluded through the Task Description and Case Studies that background knowledge is of vital importance to the quality of interpreting. During the practice, it is found that merits and limits coexist in simulative simultaneous interpreting. Moreover, in order to better cope with the interpreting tasks, the interpreter must take the general situation into consideration while dropping those insignificant details.
