The directional complement has always been a hot issue in the domestic Chinese ontological research, and it’s also one of the key points and difficulties in teaching Chinese as a foreign language."shang", one of the most frequently used member of the directional complement, cannot be ignored. This paper try to make a research about the usage of the directional complement "shang" in terms of meanings from two aspects:domestic Chinese ontological research, teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Ontologically, "shang" has rich and complex grammatical meanings, which were very detailed in the previous studies, but both of the specific classification of its meanings and which meaning it should be when the verbs in its distributed environment combine in are still not so clear. This is our first discuss point and we will give our best classifications according to the review combined with our own thinking, we hope it will also be helpful to the Chinese teaching as a foreign language. It should be pointed out that the "meaning" we mentioned is a generalized one, which not only include the meaning of "shang", but also the semantic features of the verbs, objects in its distributed environment. The second ontological question we want to discuss is based on the above theory, that is to say, the different usage limitation of the verbs or objects under different grammatical meanings of "shang".As for Chinese as a foreign language, we want to know how well the foreign students can study about "shang", so we collect the sentences about the directional complement "shang" in the scope of HSK dynamic composition corpus, especially those belong to learners’ errors, which can reflect what we want to know relevant to all the topics we mention above. This is the third part of this paper, then we will give some teaching suggestions in view of the error types.
