As the history whose object is the diachronic development of movie, the writing of movie history not only should consider the complexity of the "movie" as the subject, but also should expound the history of real society which loads "movie". This absolutely means the possibility that the movie history can presents in various forms.Considering the ideological and cultural background of the writer, the social and political factors of the era, the umber of the collections of historical data, and the motivation of writing; the history revealed in the version of movie has broad dimensions, which also offers the possibility of comparison. Due to the special social political in China, the both sides of the Taiwan Straits had different understanding and narration about the history before the 1949. But there also was a certain commonality between them.The Left-wing film movement was an important part of the Chinese film history. However the history of the both sides described it distinctly differently because of the different position. The purpose of making compare reading on the history of the both sides is not to tell who is good and who is bad. or who is right and who is wrong; but try to make a dialogue, and survey the history from the perspectives and concepts of both sides to exchange the ideas. For the sake of comparison, this paper will take The Development History of Chinese Film edited chief by Cheng Jihua and The Movie History of the Republic of China by Taiwan’s Du Yunzhi as examples to observe the similarities and differences of their writing by the literature survey method, historical and comparative research methods.There is a striking difference and distinct convergence between the writing of the both sides of the Taiwan Straits according to the background of writing, the perspectives of research, the revealed facts and the evaluation system. The Developmental history of Chinese Film (the first and second volumes) is history about official reflecting the will and mainstream ideology of the authority. Although Du Yunzhi"s works were written for the authorities" ambition to write history, but due to the lack of information and the fact that numerous parties of film history remained in the mainland. Therefore the first-hand information he had is far fewer than that in the history of Chinese film (the first and second volumes); the movie history in the mainland were influenced by politic,culture and other factors,so it studied the history of the film more from the metaphysical angle, and payed more attention to the artistry and ideology of the movie. It evaluated the Left-Wing movement as instrumental of social fighting. While Taiwan of that times criticized the Left-Wing movement from the standpoint of the national government, So the both sides made distinct statements and evaluations on the writing of specific issues. When it came to the issue---the left-wing film cultural movement, The History of Chinese Film spoke highly of it as "the film constructing the proletarian revolution", and The Film History of the Republic of China, treated the campaign as a movie "advocating the red thoughts and trying to overthrow the government".The Developmental History of Chinese Film described that star company developed from "putting a new face" to "hesitating" in the movement; while The Film History of the Republic China thought that it is opening the door to a dangerous person and hindering the non-left film; In the company of Lianhua, The Developmental History of Chinese Film stated that leftist filmmaker against the reactionary forces, the two big groups:the progress and reactionary conflicted sharply. The Film History of the Republic of China condemned that "the left"entered into the world of film and made mischief;The developmental history of Chinese film expounded that the story that Yihua went to the condition in which the bosses were hesitating and the left were standing their ground from taking a clear-cut stand. The Film History of the Republic of China witnessed the history that Yihua changed the course of production from red atmosphere;The Developmental History of Chinese Film thought that dentsu marked the great victory of the Left-Wing film movement anti-besiegement. The film history of the Republic of China considered it as a base camp of the red,and thought that the movies taken by it were unpopular.The Developmental History of Chinese film summarized the courses that the company of days and other small companies transformed, backward and declined. It was difficult for these companies to survive, and it seemed to that they were insulated with"left" in The Film History of the Republic of China; As to the measures that the national government inspected and managed the career of film, The Developmental History of Chinese Film summed up the national government’s reactionary nature:persecuting the progressive movie movement and killing film culture". While The Film History of the Republic of China reckoned that the authority was built-ting the state-run pictures, countering left reflux; The two books also have different opinions about the debate of the hard and soft film.The Developmental History of Chinese Film said the war was originated from rampant attack of "soft movie" and ended in the counterattack and victory of the Left-Wing workers.However the Film History of the Republic of China praised that "soft part" can express their claims bravely and reject "left-wing theory"Except for these differences, since that the both sides of the Taiwan straits have the same origin, and the national psychology, cultural traditions and so on of the two sides are similar, the authors of this two books had common in the mode of thinking and language culture. All this offers the opportunity to make a dialogue.
