Exercise as an important part of writing textbook of Chinese as a foreign language, it’s reasonable or not, affects the overall quality and implementation of a textbook. At present, the monographs of writing textbook in TCSL is limited, and even less on the research of the exercise. Starting from the practice,seek the way to improve the quality of writing textbooks in TCSL, is particularly important.The four textbooks as the Chinese Writing Tutorial in TCSL are representative and with a widely use, and the intermediate writing training plays a vital role in the writing teaching in TCSL. Therefore, it is targeted to investigation and analysis of the exercise of the four intermediate writing textbooks.The designs of the four textbooks’ exercises are based on their writing concept, and with a sufficient count and types. But there are still some shortcomings in fewer open questions, writing skills training is relatively few,the discourse practice is not enough etc. these all affect the usage effect of the textbooks. How to improve the level of textbooks’ practice design? In guiding thought, should reflect on the principle of scientific, interesting, effectiveness;the type of the exercise should be abundant, interesting, and keep appropriate control; the scientificity and pertinency of the exercise should be strengthened;the proportion of discourse training should be enhanced on the content of the exercise.
