| Ying Yang sea temple site is located in west of Zhengzhou about twenty kilometers, the inscription records on unearthed relics showed that the sea temple was first built in the Northern Wei Xiaochang Dynasty, in the Tang Dynasty, it was served as a royal temple and flourished and exuberant, the temple statues in Don Tsung had experienced "Huichang destroy laws", the damage was a lot, when Emperor Xuan Zong succeed to the throne, renovated and revitalized Buddhism, after,it had been extended to four years of Song Yuan and gradually wane.In March 1976, Ying Yang sea temple ruins unearthed 41 stone statues,including a monument statues, 7 seated Buddha, 17 Bodhisattva, 11 Buddha head, 2Arhats, 1 Buddha head, 1 Shakya Muni Fo, 1 Block, etc.. Some of these unearthed stone statues held 28 statues of Tang Dynasty, the numbers were the largest, most now are collected in Zhengzhou museum, and another seven are collected in the Henan museum.Through on-site investigation, reviewing relevant literature, and related collected data during graduate school, the paper studies the selected Buddha statues of the Tang Dynasty of sea temple, Analyzing these typical works of Buddha statues about specific shape characteristics, in addition, comparative methods and image research methods are used,Buddha statues in Tang Dynasty of sea temple are compared and analyzed within Xi’an, Dunhuang Grottoes,Longmen Grottoes which are Buddha statues of Tang Dynasty,further explore and define the shape characteristics,artistic styles and value of these stone statues. |
