This is a translation project report on the seventeenth chapter of The Natural City: Re-Envisioning the Built Environment edited by Ingrid Leman Stefanovic and Stephen Bede Scharper. Nowadays more than half of the people live in cities. Meanwhile there is growing recognition that the environment crisis. At this point, seeking for the balance between the environment and economic development has become a new topic to the international community. As a whole, this translation project presents the argument primarily in the context of energy systems and has guiding significance to the development of future urban energy.This book includes many articles of architecture and urban design and the authors divide them into four main categories including philosophy, religion, social policy and planning. Chapter 17 mainly talks about energy development in the natural city, which attracts the interest of the translator. This report is mainly divided into five parts. Part One is the translation project description that describes the background, significance and value of the project. Part Two is the background of the source text, the reader of the target text and the purpose of translation. Part Three talks about theoretical guidance for the process of translation. Part Four is the analysis of translation difficulties and translation methods. Part Five is the conclusion which concludes with the lessons, implication and unsolved problems in the translation project.
