The key to achieving long-term sustainability goals mentioned in the Paris Agreement on climate change is to promote energy structure transition worldwide and to reach net-zero carbon dioxide(CO2)emissions.The author chooses the special report issued by the International Energy Agency:Energy Technology Perspectives:2020-Special Report on Clean Energy Innovation as the source text, and selects the third chapter of the report for English to Chinese translation practice. From the perspective of clean energy innovation, the report puts forward the technical readiness for sustainable development, which provides a reference scheme for relevant organizations and individuals. Therefore,it has practical significance to translate this report into Chinese. This dissertation is conducted on the basis of Reiss’s Text Typology and the“Comprehension,Expression and Adaption”(CEA)Framework proposed by Professor Li Changshuan. As a text for science and technology, the source text conveys information related to clean energy to its readers in objective and accurate language.According to Reiss’s classification of text types, this type of text falls under the category of informative texts, which means the translator needs to transmit the full content of the source text precisely, and meanwhile, the translation should be clear and concise.Additionally,in light of the CEA framework, the author examines problems and proposes solutions in the translation process, covering the micro-level of language analysis and the macro-level of comprehension of the whole text, from the standpoints of comprehension, expression, and adaptation. Finally, the author summarizes some translation solutions for scientific and technical texts, providing reference for the translation of similar texts. This dissertation consists of the following four chapters.Chapter one is an introduction, including the translation background, source text analysis, and description of the translation process.Chapter two introduces the translation theory and the CEA framework.Chapter three is case analysis,in which the author discusses the approaches and ideas that have been taken in the process of translation. And in chapter four, the author makes a conclusion about this translation practice and sets expectations for future work.
