| The Chinese partner institute serves as the fundamental supporter and major resources provider during the development of Confucius Institute. During information age, website construction of the Chinese partner institute of Confucius Institute is definitely of vital significance. On one hand, the website is regarded as the window for external propaganda. As an effective platform for Chinese partner institutes to establish their good image, the website is also an indispensable way to acquire information for faculties, students and other people concerned; on the other hand, the website is also characterized by an effective indicator to evaluate the job performance of Chinese partner institutes on account of its reflection of their daily work.This thesis investigates websites of those Chinese partner institutes that contain no less than five Confucius Institutes. The text can be divided into four parts. Part One generalizes the research backgrounds, significance, ideas and approaches, making a classification and summarization of literature from ’Confucius Institute’ and ’website evaluation’ perspectives; Part Two is the design stage of the investigation, including the overall ideas of investigation, purpose of study and method of sample selection. The index of this investigation is firstly determined based on literature reading and website exploration, and then the evaluation index system for websites of Chinese partner institute is established. After that, analytic hierarchy process (AHP) is introduced to determine the weight of each index and an overall evaluation is conducted for these websites; Part Three introduces the main conclusions and related analysis of this study; Part Four discusses some possible reasons of the conclusion and gives further suggestion.The result of the investigation shows that an unbalanced tendency of the overall development level appears among Chinese partner institutes of Confucius Institutes. There is no correlation between website scores and numbers of corresponding Confucius Institutes. Among 17 Chinese partner institutes in the sample, only 4 of them have their own websites, which can be concluded that there is still remarkable room for improvement when it comes to the overall construction level of websites of Chinese partner institutes. After this study, eight important conclusions are drawn, brief discussions about the reasons is performed and further suggestions are given, for the purpose of providing reference to the construction of websites of Chinese partner institutes of Confucius Institutes. |
