Research On Soldiers’ Treatment In Later Tang Dynasty

Soldiers are a vital part of social group in Tang Dynasty. Especially in later Tang Dynasty, recruitment displaced Fu-bing in military system. Soldiers plays an important role in social life. There are many research results on soldiers in Tang Dynasty. However, little of these results involved soldiers’ treatment. This thesis tried to make a research on soldiers’ treatment during this time and make a few superficial discussions on the relationship between soldiers’ treatment and political situation in Tang Dynasty.This thesis includes four parts.The first part is an introduction. In this part, author mainly introduced relative research trend on soldiers’ treatment under the recruitment military system in later Tang Dynasty. Also this part introduced the meaning of this topic and research ideas and methodsThe second part mainly discussed soldiers’ treatment in pre Tang Dynasty. This part introduced soldiers’ social statues and basic treatment under Fu-bing military system. As this system declined, there is no way to ensure soldiers’ treatment.The third parts mainly discussed soldier’s treatment under recruitment military system in later Tang Dynasty. This part stated the soldiers’ treatment situations in the process of declining under Fu-bing military system. During the process, the treatment also declined. Later, this part discussed soldiers’ treatment on army provisions, c0 stumes and medical treatment under recruitment military system. At the last, this part analyzed reward system, include of rewarding decoration and items.The forth part is mainly about changes on soldier’s treatment and political structures in Tang Dynasty. This part separately analyzed how the soldiers’ treatment about central forces and local division affects political situation in the middle and later Tang Dynasty.
