The Current Situation Analysis Of Pipa Music Diversity At The Beginning Of The 21^st Century

Pipa was introduced into our country from India via the Qiuci (now the Xinjiang) in the northern and southern dynastic. Through the Silk Road and cross-cultural communication with the Western Region, Pipa has become one of the most important plucked instruments in China with the long history and the wide influence. In the dynasty of Tang, Pipa experienced flourishing period of elegant palace conviviality. After that, it has become very popular among the common people in the Ming and Qing dynasties. When time stepped into the twenty sixties and seventies, Pipa acquired professional development. The process of Pipa’s evolution, with obvious features, adds much joy to the simple and ordinary instrument, and is looked upon as the "tree ring". As time passed, "tree rings" with more and more rich contents bring Pipa to an extremely wide exploring music space. At the beginning of 21st century, meeting high cultural requirements of Socialism with Chinese characteristics, it is very necessary to conduct a new round of development review and outlook to Pipa which is one of the representative national typical instruments. This paper aims to analyze Pipa’s current situation in the environment of the 21st century diversified music development. Based on author’s music study experience and social practices, the thesis expresses author’s deep comprehension for nowadays Pipa diversified development. Meanwhile, this paper also want to deliver writer’s respect for Pipa after analyzing its development.Firstly, the thesis introduces the music development of Pipa in the early 21st century. Since 1970s and 1980s, the Pipa music has been lead to the flourishing road of diversification. However, Pipa, as an ancient instrument, has to undertake the baptism of modern society following the fast step. After that, this paper analyzes the current diversify situation of Pipa. In the early of 21st century, Pipa music started to develop towards the diversification of creation and performance. Due to this reason, in the Chapter three and Chapter four, the paper analyzes the representative composition, composer and performer of the Pipa music. This is called "the times produce their heroes", Pipa, as a silent piece of wood, keeping the long time flourishing development should be attribute to people in different periods sparing no efforts on Pipa. Different people in different periods with different thinking has different understanding to this piece of wood, it is taken for granted. They express their own special ideas about Pipa during the creative work. Therefore, in the development road of Pipa all kinds of judgments and evaluations were given. This paper will analyze the disadvantages and advantages of Pipa although it had experienced continuous dispute.The paper is committed to express the author’s unique understanding and infinite love about Pipa between a few lines. By inheriting predecessor’s wealth, continuous developing national music essence and exploring Pipa development path, it is a kind of respect for Pipa, for the national music, especially, it is also a kind of respect and reward for my own university study.
