Frederic Chopin(1810-1849) is a great pianist and composer, one of the European romantic musicians in 19 th century. His music is so special that the poem-like works emits the unique aroma of polish national folk.Chopin’s Bolero op.19 is a kind of piano solos on the basis of dancing rhythm.It’s not for the purpose of dance but for the concert, hence this work owns high value of appreciation and art. On the basis of ancient Spanish dancing style, this work blends in the polish national folk music melody and produces a very different genre on polish dancing music. It presents the enthusiasm of Spanish folk music as well as the romantic elegance of Polish folk music. All of the characteristics, beautiful melody,intensive harmonic technology, novel creating idea, bold and innovative tact and special and dramatic structure, are worth to study and discuss carefully for us.The author will explain characteristics and perform annotations on the Chopin’s work, Bolero op.19 from the following several parts.Chapter 1: describe mainly Chopin’s life and contribution, and the creating background of Bolero op.19.Chapter 2: analyze the music characteristics of Bolero op.19 form the aspects of structure, mode, rhythm and melody.Chapter 3: play the Chopin’s Bolero op.19 and explain the work through the music and performing skills.
