With the development of Chinese economy, people are moving into the well-off society. More and more parents begin to realize the importance of children’s education. One behavior is to buy books for their kids. According to the newest report, the Chinese children’s book market is blossoming with an annual rate of 17% ~18%. At the same time, many foreign children’s books are swarming into the market. How to cater to the children is one of the key points that translators should keep in mind and how to ensure the quality of the translation is the other concern.Under the guidance of the adaptation theory, the Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing is translated and analyzed. This thesis chooses many examples from the book to make a comparison and study from the phonetic level, vocabulary level, syntactic level and discourse level.Through the analysis and research, the writer concludes that if you want the children to enjoy the translation, the translator should translate from the perspective of children. On the choice of words and sentences types, translators had better meet the children readers’ requirements, try to consider from the characteristics of children’s literature and use more onomatopoetic words, simple words, colloquial words, reiterative and simple sentences. It is hoped that this report offers some suggestions for the children’s literature translators.
