With the rapid development of Internet, Chinese had more cultural exchanges with the rest of the world. In China, more and more audiences watched foreign film and television works on TV or by Internet, so the subtitle translation as an emerging field arises at the historic moment. As for translation field, most researches are focused on the novel and practical translation, but the study of the subtitle translation in China isn’t systematic. As for the types of subtitle translation in research, most are focused on the TV series, movies and documentaries, while few are involved reality shows which are popular in recent years. Therefore, the author hopes to provide some useful references and examples for those who aspire to do reality show subtitle translation through this report.This paper is a translation practice report. It is based on the author’s translation practice of the subtitle of the sixth and thirteenth episode of Hell’s Kitchen Season 10 with over twenty thousand Chinese characters, which summarizes the translation problems and proposes solutions. This report consists of five parts. Part One is an introduction to the project background, including the source, significance and the structure of this translation report. Part Two gives an introduction about the research background including theoretical framework and the literature review of the subtitle translation research. Part Three gives an elaboration of analysis and preparation before translation, including the requirement of the client and the understanding of the translation text. Part four is the main part of this translation report. The author makes a list of a few difficulties encountered in the process of translation. Under the guidance of skopos theory, the author uses different translation strategies to solve these problems, such as literal translation, free translation, simplification, revision, amplification, domestication and so on. Part five is the author’s summary of this translation practice and the improvement direction.
