A Practice Report On Interpreting For An Irish Tour Group To The Forbidden City

In recent years, with the continuous improvement of China’s comprehensive national strength, China has increasingly become the focus of the world. The brilliant Chinese culture attracts more and more foreign tourists.Based on the author’s experience as an escort interpreter of Meiyi Translation Company for an Ireland tour party to the Palace Museum, this report analyses the translation task from interpretation perspective. The report consists of four parts: interpretation task description, interpretation process description, cases analysis and practice summary, which respectively describe the preparations, situations of the process. The author identifies problems occurring in the interpreting process, such as short-term memory, notes problem, language expressions, and put forward solutions. At last, the author summarizes the interpretation practice and makes a plan in future study.Besides, this report also analyses typical cases. The author should learn from these cases to find suitable strategies and methods. Through enough interpretation practice, the interpreter can constantly improve her professional quality and comprehensive ability, and enhance her psychological and physical quality, and then improve her interpreting ability.
