| The Tujia in Longshan County, Hunan is a Chinese ethnic group with a long history, they are mainly living within the area of 100,000 square kilometers of Dalou Mountains and Wuling Mountains, the eastern end of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, located in Wuling mountains which connected Hunan, Hubei, Guizhou and Chongqing. The unique Longshan County Tujia’s folk art image is an important part of Chinese culture and art. Because the Tujia have no written language, its folk culture and art can only be passed on from generation to generation via word of mouth, the Tujia folk art images played a crucial role in the heritage and development of the Tujia folk culture and the arts. Longshan County Tujia folk art images are extremely abundant and valuable wealth the Tujia ancestors created over thousands of years, it is the carrier of national sentiment, moral traditions, personality traits, and cohesion and affinity, it is also the bridge to contact and communicate the world, the foundation for human to make dialogues among different civilizations. Since 2080s Longshan Tujia folk art image suffered serious damage, the destruction were unwitting, and were easily overlooked, while folk art image are non-renewable. The disappear of a splendid ethnic folk art image is the lost of local characteristics, is a huge regret for human being, so it is imperative to rescue and protect the heritage of Longshan Tujia folk art image, and it needs to draw high attention. Currently, there is not much research about Longshan County Tujia folk art image, and the research about the handicrafts, rock paintings, folk paintings, sculpture and paintings are rare. Here I as a member of the Tujia, it is my responsibilities and obligations to study its folk art images. Let us carry forward the traditional image of the Tujia folk art, constantly develop it by weeding through the old, so that to revel the permanent charm of the splendid folk art image. |
