Writing And Seeking While Walking —Study On Zhang Xinxin And Her Creations

Zhang Xinxin was an author with strong characters in Chinese literature circle in 1980s. She established her own characters by her "psychology novels" and documentary works. Chinese contemporary literature and comments usually commented her works in the field of women’s writing, and divided her creations into two parts as "psychology novels" and documentary works. Comments often focused on her works in 1980s. Comments on her other creations and her whole writing experience are relatively fewer. By reading and analyzing Zhang Xinxin’s creations since 1978, this research attempted to integrally show Zhang Xinxin’s creation style and spiritual feature, such as the motivation and venation of her writing.Zhang Xinxin’s creation has its own characters and venation. Also, consciously or unconsciously, her experience conformed to the trajectory of her creations, changes in her writing style and the development of the society. It offered a great sample to analyze and understand the identity of women writers in contemporary China and how the era made influences on them. The conflicts and concerns showed in Zhang Xinxin’s creations reflected the worries and pursuits of intellectual women in that generation.By placing Zhang Xinxin’s creations in the development of Chinese literature since 1980s, this research attempted to explore the possibilities and limits of women’s writing. Also, comparing Zhang Xinxin’s creations with some of her contemporaries, this research attempted to find Zhang Xinxin’s unique and generality of that generation, and reveal the significance and value of Zhang Xinxin in Chinese contemporary literature and times.
