The study is aimed to make a survey of the public’s implicit theory of emotional intelligence. "Questionnaire about the public’s view of emotional intelligence" was made on the basis of the semi-structured interview.The results are as follows:1. The view of the development of El:people hold incremental belief about the EL Most of the people believe that the El is changeable, and it can be improved through own efforts and external training. People also hold positive attitude towards some methods to improve El, such as self-reflection and summary, practice and experience more, create a harmonious environment, encouragement and guidance, observation and imitation and so on.2. The view of the influence factors of El:people think the El is influenced by the following five aspects:family factors, school factors, social factors, personal controllable factors and personal uncontrollable factors, among which "family factors" is considered as the most important one. Parental role models, harmonious family atmosphere, parents’parenting style, peer interaction, personality, teachers’guidance, major life events are most important factors.3. Characteristics of El:the most typical characteristics of high El are:emotional regulation ability, interpersonal skills, communication skills, adaptability, words and deeds properly, good observation, self-cognitive ability, team cooperation ability, expression ability, appealing, affinity, flexibility, self-confidence, compressive ability, independent etc..3 factors are extracted through factor analysis, which are general traits, social composition, and psychological elasticity. On the whole, the public’s view of El is a kind of mixed orientation.4. Acquisition channel on the view of EI:public acquire the view of El mainly through self-reflection, social practice, observing and thinking about people and things around, contacting with strangers, talking with friends. Self-perception and external influence are two big dimension been extracted.5. Variables such as gender, age, education background, growth area, whether in school or not affect the view on EI.The influence of gender and whether in school or not are larger.
