Whether the Southern Drama or the Northern Drama maturity firstly is the problem which must and should be responded by the history of Chinese drama. The people of Ming lived behind the dynasty of Song and Yuan, Most of them thought the Southern Drama came from the Northern Drama.Among which the word of Wang-shizhen who said that Ci distress the north people and then the Northern Drama appears, and the south people distress the Northern Drama and then the Southern Drama appears can be as the symbol. The Southern Ci Xu Lu by Xuwei as the first monographs of Southern Drama said that the Southern Drama began in the dynasty of Guangzong of Song(1190—1194), and that it or began in the era of Xuan He. Because Wang-guowei only read “Jing, Liu, Bai, Sha”and The record of lute,he said that although it is possible that the real drama began in the dynasty of Song, the script of Song is none, the real drama must began from the Northern Drama.Ye-gongzhuo found Three kinds of Xi Wen of Yeledadian in Lun Dun in 1920 and pressed in 1931. Then the academic of Chinese drama condemned the comment of Wang-guowei. Qian-nanyang said that the beginning of the Southern Drama began in the era of Xuan He. Yu-weimin said that it began in the dynasty of North Song.The academic of Chinese drama of overseas is different from the domestic scholars. They thought that the beginning of Southern Drama shouldn’t be early the Northern Drama. Zheng’er Qingmu of Japan believed that the “Xi Wen” referred by Zhoumi and Zhou-deqing is another name of the Song Drama which is in order to distinguish from the Northern Drama. Liang-huixi of South Korea found that The Top of Zhangxie have applied the “Ru Pai San Sheng”. Then he thought that it began in the mid-term of Yuan, and he came up with a inspired question in the paper of Northern Drama is impossible later than Southern Drama, which the Guangzong of Song(1190—1194)is the time of the beginning of Southern Drama, while the initial stage of Yuan is the time of the prosperity of Northern Drama.The Top of Zhangxie is the earliest script of Southern Drama,so the affirmation of it have become the most debate. My mentor Mr. Yangdong thought that it’s completion was later than Guan-hanqing. Once this paper published,the debate from the scholars of Southern Drama began.Therefore, whether the Southern Drama or the Northern Drama maturity firstly and the symbol of the maturity of Chinese drama is always a problem which haven’t been solved. In consideration of this,we choose the research of the relationship of the homonymous repertoires between Southern Drama and Northern Drama as the breakthrough point.By the reliable research on the 124 kinds of them, we or could solve the debate.Of course, the study about the relation of North and South homonymous drama has appeared earlier.Our seniors have done a lot of work and made great contribution. Zheng’er-Qingmu has discovered the problem of North and South homonymous drama in his academic classic Chinese modern drama history. The first time that he made statistics about it, he got 37 repertoires. Inspired by this, the later works of drama history continue to use this method and add to the count by Zheng’er-Qingmu. However, we should also find out the defects of seniors as we see the achievement by them. The first to mention is that the focus is limited to the southern dramas handed down, such as Wrong conduct, Small sun tu, Worship the moon,The Orphan of Zhao and so on. Second, some conclusions still need to be reconsidered, for example, Study on Worship the moon by Yu-weimin holds that homonymous drama of Guan-hanqing is adapted by the Southern Drama. Let’s take a look at another example, The adaptation of the Southern Drama Zhaoshi orphan by Ji Junxiang by Wu gan and Deng-ruiqiong and The compiled discussion of All the Yuan drama?orphan of Zhaoshi by Wugan.,according to the judgment by Qian-nanyang that Wrong Conduct was written after the death of Jin and before the death of Song, he thought that writing times of the Southern Drama The Orphan of Zhao was no later than Song and Yuan and was at the same time with Ji-junxiang creation times. All of these are the starting point of our continuous study. We should not only respect the achievement by seniors, but also have doubt on the previous conclusions practically and realistically.We apply the way of case’s research and the analysis of types. The case’s research is on the basis of their existing or disappearance which divides three kinds of “two of them all existing”, “one of them existing”, “only having the part of tune”. The analysis of types attaches the importance on three kinds of different subject of concentrate: The religion of Quanzhen, The destiny of intellectuals, Complicated legal case. By so doing, we come to the conclusion, the number which the Southern Drama adapted the Northern Drama is 58,which is almost the one half of the whole number of homonymous repertoires and is the a quarter of the whole number of Southern Drama. Then the contrary number is zero. The number which their relation couldn’t be known is 66. Therefore, we have to make doubt on the idea that “the Southern Drama began in the era of Guangzong of Song” by Xuwei.During the research, we find that the idea of Xuwei came from Zhu-yunming. Zhu said that “I saw the old repertoires when Zhou-hongfu had the list of banned”. However, Zhu’s comment is behind the words of “so-called Wenzhou Drama”. That is to say, the repertoires that Zhu saw is the Wenzhou Drama which isn’t the Southern Drama and it is one of the Song Drama. Besides the Wenzhou Drama(Yongjia Drama),there is also the “Chuan Drama”. They are all the variety of Song Drama and don’t have the elements of real drama. So “Yongjia Drama” for the Southern Drama is as to the “Yuanben of Jin” for the Northern Drama. Therefore,we think that the real drama of China must begin from the Northern Drama.
