As the subject of calligraphy practice, calligrapher is an important part of Chinese calligraphy history. The identity of the calligrapher is an important proposition of calligraphy research. It includes the establishment of calligrapher image and identity recognition. Calligrapher’s idea has a complex connotation. It has the timeliness and spatiality. Calligrapher’s perception of calligraphy;calligrapher’s position, the learning process,practice, creation and change;calligrapher’s personality, learning and cultivation,natural gift,realm; Epigraphy and bookish,and so on,are all the important part of Calligrapher’s idea. Different periods of calligrapher’s idea is different.The 6th century ago was an important period. Calligraphy by practical tools gradually transformed into an art form, And then in the wei jin southern and northern dynasties period to later generations beyond the reach of height. This article through to tease the Chinese calligraphy history. Hope to find out the status of the calligrapher and the changes of the calligrapher’s ideas during this period.The full text is divided into four chapters:The first chapter is an introduction,mainly discusses the meaning of the word calligrapher and The composition of calligraphers’ ideas.It’s to discuss calligraphers’ image, as well as an overview of the overall concept.The second chapter discusses calligraphers’ image and the establishment of calligraphers’ identity.The establishment of the calligraphers’ image definition in cursive art prosperity and development of the eastern han dynasty period.The third chapter is mainly discussed in the sui dynasty calligrapher of the concept of change before. It includes the pre-qin, han and the wei jin southern and northern dynasties, during this period, calligraphers’ concept from naive to mature.The last chapter is conclusion.
