In the treasure-house of Chinese folk songs, plenty of western folk songs were written by a person who took his lifetime to collect, sort out and creative the music of ethnic minorities belonging to the world on the vast land, making the melody and tones that spread across the Western Regions appear in front of people by complete structure and fantastic melody, and widely known and popular. He is Wang Loubin, the father of the folk song. Wang Loubin was recognized and highly praised in the west area (such as Qinghai, Xinjiang and other places), but few people researched him and his folk songs in the history of folk songs in our country. It’s very complicated that there were many reasons, such as political reasons and copyright reasons. However, from the perspective of content and artistic, the value of Wang Luobin’s folk songs was much higher than other folk songs. Folk song is a master of folk art, we should from the perspective of art theory, excavate its artistic value and meaning significance, rather than focus on its copyright and other conflicts of interest. The author tried to put Wang Luobin’s folk songs into the history of folk songs and new poetry, from the artistic feature, find out the correlation and its artistic characteristics, probe why the western folk songs collected and composed by Wang Luobin have so strong vitality and explore the status of Wang Luobin in the history of folk songs.In this paper, the introduction part introduces the research situation of Wang Luobin’s folk songs and writing cause. The first part mainly makes a specific analysis of the birth times of Wang Luobin’s folk songs, era background and the development tendency of other folk songs, and brings Wang Luobin’s activities in every period into the background at that time. The second part analyzes the main characteristics of Wang Luobin’s folk songs from the melody, tonality and rhythm. The third part starts with words of song and makes a deeper exploration around the relationship between his folk songs and the new poetry. The fourth part from the difference between Wang Luobin’s folk songs and at the same time other folk songs, to dig out the significant effect and value. Moreover, taking Hong Qi, a folkie in Xinjiang as an example, it elaborates the influence of Wang Luobin’s folk songs on contemporary folk songs and ballads. The conclusion part summarizes and emphasizes Wang Luobin’s important role in the history of folk songs and its relationship with modern poetry. It hopes that the researchers can discuss and envisage the value of art from artistic aesthetics rather than the interests of art. This not only plays a positive role in inheriting Wang Luobin’s folk songs, but also has positive influences on the development of contemporary folk songs and ballads.
