| Making bright cloth is an old traditional craftsmanship of Hmong nationality in Rongshui, which has a pretty complex manufacturing operation and a relatively abundant inheritance custom. This paper aims to explore the living conditions and change of the bright cloth of Hmong people under the local historical and modern environment, to analyze its dilemma of inheritance in the modern society’s background, to keep on the theory and practice to explore the preservation of living state about the manufacture craft of Hmong people’s bright cloth. It is of great significance to enrich the research achievements upon Hmong people costume culture and to improve the development and inheritance of the infrastructure of national culture and intangible cultural heritage.Based on the fieldwork, this paper makes a deep exploration of traditional processes of bright cloth and the ethnic performance in Hmong traditional customs, and puts forward feasible suggestions for its development through the questionnaire survey and interviews in the perspective of multi-disciplinary. Thesis includes three parts: introduction,text and epilogue. The first chapter carries on the summary to the overall distribution of bright cloth and analyzed the natural and humanistic environment where the bright cloth of Hmong nationality derivative;The second chapter records at length the process of production techniques of bright cloth through the field investigation, and shows processes of Hmong people’s bright cloth from the intuitive level;The third chapter explores inheritance customs of the bright cloth under the different fields;The fourth chapter carries on the on-the-spot investigation about present inheritance situation of making skills in Hmong’s bright cloth and traces to its source to explore its overall change condition in the historical context and makes some thinking on its sustainable development in allusion to the predicament of heritage it faces in the contemporary social background.All in all, this thesis comes to the following conclusions through investigation and discussion to production techniques and inheritance of the light cloth: the bright cloth’s manufacture technique in Hmong nationality of Rongshui which shows a nation’s unique aesthetic concept and harmonious natural ecological aesthetic, is an important part of the traditional culture of the Hmong people. But in the contemporary social background, the development to the skills of making bright cloth will decline and face the unprecedented threat. How to ensure the sustainability of its inheritance and development is the key. |
