With the advent of the digital age, the application of high technology means in the films is gradually becoming true. Only if one understands the film technologies, can one better understand the films. Among the films of the recent ten years, the top 10 grossing films almost are in close contact with the use of high technology, such as “Alice in Wonderland”, “Pirates of the Caribbean”, “Lord of the Rings”, and the landmark “Avatar” and so on. Among many of the high-tech means, the virtual technology is gradually arousing people’s attention, expanding with no limit, and becoming the audiovisual ontology of the films.From the perspective of the film elements, and through the theoretical research, works analysis and comparison, and social practice investigation, this paper analyzes the effect of the application of the virtual technology for the films and the film audience psychology, and probes into the effect of virtual technology for the films and the change of the film psychology.To begin with, this paper analyzes the basic concept and its features of the virtual technology, and elaborates the film aesthetic psychology and the audience.In addition, from the film perspective, this paper concretely analyzes the application of the virtual technology in the aspects of scenes, characters, and the camera, and discusses the effects of the for virtual technology for the films and the film art.Furthermore, from the perspective of the film audience psychology, and based on the researches of the aspects of attention, imagination, emotion and other psychological aspects, this paper makes dialectical thinking about the effect of the virtual technology for the audience psychology.At last, through summarizing the main work and innovation of this paper, it also forecasts the content which is not included in this paper and the further content in the future study.Virtual technology has brought various visual feasts time and again for the film in terms of its unique creation, which has consequently enriched audience’s horizon and changed their visual experience and aesthetic psychology. Meanwhile, the development of film is also influenced by audience’s acceptance level and awareness. It is so significant that cannot be ignored to coordinate the relationship among virtual technology, the film and the audience. Therefore, the study of virtual technology has great realistic significance for the study of the film and its audience’s psychology, which provides certain reference for the development of film in the future.
