Bach sonatas and partitas for solo violin contains all the possible chord expressions on violin playing. This dissertation selects the third sonata BWV1005 for the study, introducing the concept of temperament and relative wavelength, discussing the principal and practice of temperament behind Bach sonatas for violin solo on-tone playing. The author combines the functional harmony analysis within the piece and the interval of temperament mathematical expressions, revealing the nature of violin solo on-tone playing and the mathematical principle in our hearing. Following analysis, the suggestion in line with mathematical interval is given for violin left hand finger position.
