This paper is to explore the temple is located in Chaohu City area of Anhui province Zhongmiao in the faith, legends in the perspective to constructive the belief and the historical of the Zhongmiao. The temple has experienced destruction and repaired many times in the local chronicles, the temple of literature destroyed. And the ancient local chronicles confusion the two temples, the local people are often so. Zhongmiao ruined, but the legends spread and not destroyed, more temples to interrupt. This paper also mainly to seize the legend of this perspective and with the document comparison, through the angle of legend remodeling belief development and the historical context of the temple.Legend in the temple of the first local god is Jiaomu in the Western Jin Dynasty legend, the court in order to commend her, Jiaomu temple built imperial. After the Bixia Yuanjun faith, together with the local people have believed in and Jiaomu belief. But in the development process, Bixia Yuanjun surpassed the focal god, was given " Shengmu" title, become the God when the landlord. The legends of Buddism godness Guanyin today in local spread also spring. Introduction of the Buddhist gods also to the local belief caused a certain impact. But in the mind of people, Shengmu is their most important god. In the local legend about Shengmu appeared most. The paper want to solve two problems: the people to cause confusion Jiaomu and Bixia Yuanjun and a Buddism godness Guanyin empress. In addition, Jiaomu temple and Zhongmiao is in confusion. This are benefit for people to explore the reasons of local belief change.In this paper, through the field investigation method and compared the literature: first, the main faith is Shengmu,so it is easy to bring about Jiaomu, a Buddism godness Guanyin legends are attached to their Shengmu on the body. Especially in the manifestation of legend, people is even more so, to confuse Jiaomu, Shengmu, Buddism godness Guanyin three goddess. So generally call them as "Niangniang". Secondly, Jiaomu temple on Chaohu Lake Island Laoshan, while the Zhongmiao in Chaohu west side of Phoenix of rocky, both geographical position determined Jiaomu temple economy, political and cultural status is not the same as Zhongmiao. So the reputation of the Jiaomu temple is far below the Zhongmiao. But because of the long history of Jiaomu, local people will consciously put the history and legends of Jiaomu temple to the Zhongmiao to increase its history of mystery, to attract more believers. It will appear the public focus Jiaomu temple and the Zhongmiao temple of confusion. This is also a cause the belief change.
