This is a translation project report on China-EU global value chains: who creates value, how and where?-growing linkages and opportunities submitted to the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Trade. This paper analyzes the profound function of the global value chains and reveals problems existing in EU firms in China. Hence, the report serves as a guidebook for the Chinese enterprises seeking to “go global” and paves the way for the further development between EU and China. The theoretical foundation of this translation project is the Skopos theory put forward by Vermeer. The Skopos theory advocates that each text serves its specific purpose, thus achieving the set goal of the source text should be the priority in assessing the quality of a translation. The entire report is divided into four parts. The first chapter is on task background. The second chapter introduces the main contents, linguistic features and the translation theory. The third chapter analyzes the translation difficulties and methods. The fourth chapter concludes the report with the lessons learnt and problems to be solved.
