Since1997when CCTV introduced the first South Korean Teleplay”What islove” which had produced a sensational effect among the Chinese audiences, the SouthKorean Teleplay has become fashionable for a while in China and it’s hit degree can besaid as hot. For a long time, the academic field has always been concerning the deeperanalysis of the reason why the South Korean Teleplay possesses the capacity to befashionable for a while. Meanwhile, with the rapid development of the digitaltechnology, the means and media of the audience to receive information show a trendto be a multiple posture. The wide application of the new media also brings up a newpattern for people to accept culture, therefore, the number of the audience relying onthe old-fashioned media has been reduced remarkably. The domestic television dramalacks the ability to compete. Apart from that, the high-quality foreign television dramahas successfully broken into the Chinese film and television industry, all of whichresult in the significant lowering of the audience rating and the great loss of audience.Thus, it is of greatly practical meaning to study the reason for the hot play of theKorean teleplay and to analyze the problems and shortages of our Chinese teleplaywhen today’s globalization has become increasingly intense.This paper is a research of the relevant theory and it’s main method is to collectthe information and material comprehensively. The paper persists in the principle oflinking of the theory with practice, starts from the situation of the Korean teleplaytheory study, combining the present situation of the Korean teleplay propagation andputs forward the thinking about the hot play of the Korean teleplay. By using therelevant research materials available for reference in this area and utilizing the resource advantage of the university where I work for as well as the advantage in spreadinginformation of the modern medium—Internet, this paper observes and studies largeamounts of Korean teleplays hot in China in recent years and communicates anddiscusses with the predecessors who pursue the relevant work, thus strengthening thedepth and the width of the content studied. Based on this, beginning from the secondchapter, this paper analyzes the profound reason of the hot play of the South Koreanteleplay, how the South Korean teleplay creates more profits in order to realize it’seconomic value and how it realizes the social value by inheriting the social traditionalculture from three different aspects: the Chinese audiences’ emotional deed, theirpsychological factor and the cultural diffusion of the hot South Korean teleplay. Alltogether, all these cover the following three chapters. Besides the application of variousrelevant theories to make an analysis, this paper pays more attention to thesample-analysis to the three types—family drama, historical drama and idol drama toenhance the persuasiveness and reliability of the conclusion. Finally, after analyzingdiverse causes, this paper discusses the calm reflection induced by the hot play of theSouth Korean teleplay step by step in the fifth chapter. In the meantime, it alsogeneralizes and analyzes the current awkward situation and problems faced by thedomestic television drama. By using the enlightenment bringing about by the hot playof the South Korean teleplay for reference and combining the actual state of the filmand television industry in our country, the paper puts forward some pertinent proposalsand the means of realization on how the domestic television drama can go out of ourcountry to win prosperity.
