Currently, with the rise of its comprehensive national strength, China is playingan increasingly important role in the international community. It conducts muchmore exchange and communication with foreign nations and regions for cooperation.Therefore, the interpreting becomes more and more indispensable in this process.While, in interpreting, especially in English to Chinese consecutive interpreting, theinterpreting of English complex sentences turns to be a great challenge for theinterpreter, which would cause inaccuracy of the source language information andaffect the fluency of interpretation and so on, which put a bad effect on interpretationquality.The thesis is a practice report on English to Chinese consecutive interpreting.The author describes her own escort and consecutive interpreting work experiencefor an exhibitor at the2014China Beijing International Fair for Trade in Services,especially the E-C consecutive interpreting task for the exhibitor, John’s Englishpresentation on Chinese ancient dragon robes and silks. By analyzing the case, thethesis aims to specifically describe the author’s preparation process for theinterpreting task, to conclude the problems and difficulties she encountered in theprocess of interpreting English complex sentences, and to provide some usefulcoping strategies in terms of these problems for E-C interpreting learners.
