| Objectivity is one of the most prominent features of Englishacademic papers, which also leads to the frequent use of passive voice toavoid unnecessary subjectivity. Active voice is the dominant way ofexpression in Chinese. In addition, Chinese―Bei-construction‖often hasnegative semantic prosody due to historical reasons. We cannot alwaysresort to passive sentences in Chinese while translating English passivevoice and need to find out corresponding Chinese structures. This thesisexplores the ways of translating English passive sentences into Chinesewith examples from the translation of Frontiers of the MarketingParadigm in the Third Millennium. |
