On Sacred Entertainment-huaiyang Ancient Temple "Danjingtiao" Folk Art

‘Dan-Jing-Tiao’ is a primitive ritual dance that spreads in Huai-Yang region. Itis an important part of the local ritual festivals with a long story and a far-reachinginfluence. As a carrier of Fu-Xi culture,‘Dan-Jing-Tiao’ takes on the important taskfor the inheritance of Fu-Xi’s merits and virtues and ritual blessing. This paper willtake the ritual dance ‘Dan-Jing-Tiao’ in Huai-Yang temple fair about Tai-Hao(another name of Fu-Xi) tomb as the research object, studying its artistic expressionfrom both vertical and horizontal levels so as to better understand the function andpractical significance of the folk culture ‘Dan-Jing-Tiao’ mainly through theexploration of the origins, historical review, artistic forms and contents, combiningwith the spirit of the non-material cultural heritages and its significance to thedevelopment of contemporary culture.This paper will be divided into six parts, including five chapters.The introduction part is mainly about the origin, significance, research methodsand steps of the paper, and its relevant literature review.Chapter one Introduction to Huai-Yang temple fair on Tai-Hao (another nameof Fu-Xi) tomb.Through the introduction to its geographical features, nationality and history;current development situation; the tradition of ancestral beliefs of the people fromCentral Plains; the grand of ritual activities in temple fairs; folk art forms and craftson the temple fairs; the author will review the origin and development of Huai-Yangtemple fair on Tai-Hao (another name of Fu-Xi).Chapter two ‘Witch Dance’ Dan Jing Tiao in Huai-Yang temple fair onTai-Hao (another name of Fu-Xi) tomb.This chapter will explore the comprehensive understanding of the inheritanceand development of ‘Dan-Jing-Tiao’ this local folk forms through the research on itsorigin and the introduction of its performance team ‘Dragon Flower’, as well as thedescription and record of the process of the traditional ritual activities such as‘Chao-Zhu’ and ‘Guo-Hui’.Chapter three The music in ‘Witch Dance’ Dan Jing Tiao in Huai-Yangtemple fair on Tai-Hao (another name of Fu-Xi) tomb.This chapter will summarize the structural features of lyrics and melody in DanJing Tiao through the analysis and find out the similarities and differences among Dan Jing Tiao, Henan opera and folk songs through comparative analysis so as to perceivethe connection among them in the process of inheritance and innovation.Chapter four The dance forms and stage properties in ‘Witch Dance’ Dan JingTiao in Huai-Yang temple fair on Tai-Hao (another name of Fu-Xi) tomb.This chapter describes and analyzes the dance steps and formation inDan-Jing-Tiao to understand the features of its performance form and the originalbeauty of choreography presented itself.Chapter five On social factors about the thriving of ‘Witch Dance’ Dan JingTiao in Huai-Yang temple fair on Tai-Hao (another name of Fu-Xi) tomb.Through the exploration of "witch" culture presented in Dan-Jing-Tiao; localsocial mechanisms with prevalent "witch" trend; the function, as well as the times,geographical and ethnic factors of Dan-Jing-Tiao, this chapter tries to find out thereasons that Dan-Jing-Tiao can last for thousands of years together with ancienttemple fair on Tai-Hao (another name of Fu-Xi) tomb.Conclusion The forms of expression of Dan-Jing-Tiao have distinctive folkcharacteristics and geographical attributes. It will alsoillustrate the research significance and value from the role of Dan-Jing-Tiao in thelocal ritual festivals and its function and significance in culture inheritance. Thispaper will take a new perception to better promote the inheritance and development ofthis traditional folk activities.
