The Jing people distributes at the border of southwest China. It is theunique minority that lives near the sea and the cross-border nationalitythat is of the same origin of Vietnamese. Jing’s diet customs is importantcomponent of Jing’s folk culture.On one hand, this report primarilyinvestigates the manifestation of Jing’s diet customs, its relation withecological environment and its cultural function. Based on the fieldresearch, this paper describes manifestation of Jing’ diet customs indifferent situations, say daily life, festival and reception and so forth.Combining with cultural ecology,cultural anthropology and folklore, itexpounds the affinity of Jing’s diet customs and ecological environmentand discusses its cultural function.On the other hand, this essay concernstransmission and vicissitude of Jing’s diet customs in the Jing people’slife and inquiries into how to make full use of Jing’s diet customs.Inconclusion, the formation and development of Jing’s diet customs closelyconnect to its ecological environment. Natural environment offersmaterial base. And humanistic environment affects them from bothdiachronic and synchronic view. In the diachronic aspect, the customculture including production habits, religion and folk festivals impactsdevelopment of Jing’s diet customs. At the point of synchronization,group commutation makes influence on its content and forms. Jing’s dietcustoms plays connection, medium and integration roles in Jing’s life andexperiences transitions day by day. Only if we get to know Jing’s culture,promote Jing’s diet customs in university with government’s power andbigger investment, combine with media and tourism and improve environmental consciousness, we can make full advantage of Jing’s dietcustoms in reasonable way.
