The rapid development in economy and the uprising of comprehensive nationalstrength help China to gain more and more attention from the world. Chinese becomesmore and more popular in western countries. To understand China, one has to know abouther culture. Chinese classical works are the essential part of Chinese culture; classicalpoems and essays are the two magic weapons in the arsenal of Chinese ancient culture. However, the study of translation on Chinese Classic Essays is far from that of the ChineseClassic Poetry. Since the Chinese Classic Essays count for as much as Poetry, the study ofits translation should step forward.Based on the Adaptation Theory, and combing with Wangs’ claim of the ThreeBeauties in Chinese Classic Essays, and taken Yue Yang Lou Ji, the typical Chineseclassical artistic essay as an example, this research attempts to analyze the translationprinciples and translation methods to reproduce the Three Beauties of Chinese ClassicArtistic Essays such as the beauty of language, the beauty of text and the beauty of theme. The research finds that Yue Yang Lou Ji, shows the beauties of the Three Beauties ofChinese Classic Artistic Essays. To reproduce these three beauties, the translator appliesdifferent translation methods such as literal translation, free translation, annotation, conversion, omission and amplification. Free translation and literal translation are mostfrequently applied to adapt to the source language. The beauty of language lies in theappropriate using of precise words, culture-loaded words and abundant using of rhetorical devices. In Xie Baikui’s version, the using of precise words achieves well by adapting tothe source language with literal translation. As for the culture-loaded words, free translationis mainly used to adapt to the source language. In the English version of Xie Baikui andLuo Jingguo, more rhetorical devices are reserved. Besides, the texts of the translationversions of these two translators are kept well. Thus, in general, Xie Baikui’s versionreproduces the beauty of Yue Yang Lou Ji better than the rest. The research turns to be a new leaf for the theoretical study of the Chinese ClassicalEssays. Besides, the translation methods applie d in the target text can be used in thetranslation of other Chinese Classical Essays, which helps to show the charming of theChinese Classical Essays and promote the culture interactions between China and othercountries.
