| Objective:This reseach aims to understand the status and characteristics of freshmen’s personal evaluation and achievement motivation; to explore the relationship among personality traits, personal evaluation and achievement motivation.Method:By using a self-designed questionnaire on demographic statistics, and the big five personality questionnaire, personal evaluation inventory, achievement motivation scales in606freshmen in a key university in Hunan. Using SPSS for the descriptive statistical analysis, t test, analysis of variance, after inspection, partial correlation analysis, regression analysis and mediating effect test for analyzing the relationships.Results:1.There were no remarkable differences in gender and whether is one-child statistically on each dimension of personal evaluation and achievement motivation; the motivation on pursuing success among freshmen under poorer family economic conditions was significantly higher than that of the under better family economic condition relatively.2.Personality traits, personal evaluation, achievement motivation, the relationship among each couple was related, it is significantly to correlate to each other; the dimensions of academic performance, sports, appearance, love relationship, talk with others predict achievement motivation significantly; personality of neuroticism, conscientiousness, extraversion, openness significantly predict personal evaluation; personality significantly predict achievement motivation.3.Personal evaluation partially mediate between responsibility of personality and achievement motivation.Conclusions:1.Different gender and whether is only-child have little effect on freshmen’personal evaluation and achievement motivation, the freshmen under better family economical conditions own lower level of achievement motivation than the freshmen under poorer family economical conditions.2.Different freshmen of different personalities have different personal evaluations and different level of achievement motivations to themselves.3.The responsibility can influence the achievement motivation directly, can also indirectly through personal evaluation. |
