Alice Walker is a famous Afro-American female writer who creates lots of novels, and collections of poems. As a black female writer, most of her literary works disclose the miserable life of the black women living in the southern part of the America under the patriarchal system, and the works also expose the fate of nature under the patriarchal system.The Color Purple is one of Alice Walker’s masterpieces, which has profound influence in the history of the African literature. The novel discloses that in the southern part of American the black women suffer the sexism from men by depicting several females. It also describes that the African ecological system has been destroyed by the white colonists, which shows us the tragic life of nature under the influence of the patriarchal system. In the patriarchal society, women suffer from the oppression by men and at the same time, nature is destroyed by men. Males are the dominator in the society, so males control females and nature. From the perspective, we can conclude that there is a close connection between nature and women. The essay will analyze The Color Purple from the perspective of ecofeminism and aim to expose the fallacy that men are superior to everything, men control nature and women. And it tries to break the fallacy and searches for the ethics glory. Finally, it achieves the equalities between human beings and nature, males and females.This essay is divided into six parts. Chapter one is the brief introduction of Alice Walker’s life experiences and her main works. It also includes the main idea of The Color Purple and the literature review. Chapter two is the introduction of the theory of ecofeminism. Chapter three discusses the connection between women and nature in the patriarchal system. They are both regarded as the others in the society. Chapter four analyzes the rebellion of nature and women. With the help of sisterhood and the influence of the African culture, the black women finally acquire the courage to revolt the oppressions and they get the equal position with men. Similarly, nature revolts human beings by disease and disasters. Chapter five discloses the ethics glory. The equality is achieved by the realization of equalities between nature and human beings, males and females. Chapter six is the conclusion. It summarizes the ecofeminism in The Color Purple.
