Mindfulness training(MT) is a set of practice derived from the eastern Buddhism meditation, which emphasizes the intentional, non-judgmental and moment-to-moment attention to the present. Early studies usually focused on clinical efficacies of mindfulness. Recently, more attention has being paid to positive psychological effects of it. Although the impact of mindfulness training(MT) on emotion regulation and subject well-being is well established, the specific mechanisms supporting it are poorly understood. In order to explore the specific mechanisms of mindfulness training on emotion regulation and subject well-being, we conducted a short, fully randomized five day longitudinal trial of MT, explicitly controlling for treatment effects with an active-control group. We measured their NAP scores through Negative Affective Priming paradigm (NAP) and mindfulness levels and subject well-being before(Timel) and after(Time2) intervention in healthy human subjects. Both groups received five-day of training and30minutes per day, during the five-day training, the mindfulness training group received a short-version of Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program including short mindfulness meditation and body scan while the control group just received five-day of relaxing training. Although both groups showed significantly reduced on the NAP task, the MT group reduced more, which means the MT enhances open attention towards emotional stimuli, without inhibition or facilitation. Moreover, according to the results of FFMQ and SWQ, the MT group displayed greater levels of mindfulness and subject well-being after the training, compared with the control group. They also showed increased positive emotions and decreased negative emotions after the training, as well as the degree of life satisfaction. Furthermore, we conducted detailed comparison between two training programs, trying to discuss the effects and feasibility of short-term MT, which of practice significance to extend the application of MT.
