The study of an translator includes the exploration of his translation philosophies and translation practice, which is of great importance to the development of China’s translation cause. However, in the history of translation studies, people have paid far more attention to translation methods and translation principles while the main body of translation-translator is lack of systematic and in-depth study.Zhuo is regarded as an outstanding translator of special status in China. He has translated lots of Chinese poems into English and has made a lot of pioneering work in spreading Chinese culture, improving the status of Chinese literature in the world. Apart from the great achievements he made in practice, he also puts forward a set of relatively systematic translation theory.The thesis attempts to adopt the perspective of Eco-translatology to explore and study Zhuo’s colorful translation philosophies and translation works. It is hoped that the exploration in this thesis may help broaden the vision of studies on Zhuo’s translation philosophies.The thesis mainly consists of five chapters. Chapter One is the introduction, in which the research background, research methods and the layout of the thesis will be discussed. Chapter Two, which focuses on literature review, includes two parts. The first part is literature review on Eco-translatology, and the second part is literature review on the research of Zhuo Zhenying. Chapter Three is theoretical basis of this thesis, including the background, and the core concepts of Eco-translatology. Chapter Four, the most important part of this thesis, mainly discusses and explores Zhuo’s translation philosophies and translation works in such dimensions as the balance of translational eco-environment, the adaptation and selection of translational behavior, doing things with Translation, translational function and the sustainable development of the English translation of Chinese classics, etc, through which readers may have a detailed knowledge of Zhuo’s translation theory. Chapter Five is the conclusion of this thesis, which summarizes the main content of this thesis and answers the research questions of this paper, as well as points out limitations of this thesis and propose suggestions for further study.
