| Being vivid, deep and intuitive, images of education has been an important recordand witness of history in the development of human beings. As an important part ofhuman life, education has caused many video enthusiasts’ attention and favor. Indifferent historical periods of images’ development, many documentary creators focusthe lens on education. With the use of cinematic narrative way, documentariesinterpret the real educational life to people, expose and examine the drawbacks in theeducational system. In this way, documentaries have made an important contributionsto education reform and development.After entering the new century, the documentaries on the subject of educationgrow in large numbers, and there are many excellent works gain awards on domesticand international competitions. The emergence of new media provides a broaderplatform and a wider audience for documentary. The documentary gradually goes intothe public view and has growing impact on the life of masses. And the educationaldocumentary is more popular in general public, as the eyes of observing Chineseeducation.Through the medium of documentary this thesis tries to track and describe theChinese education under the lens. The perspective of image can provide amulti-dimensional view of education at all levels. The existing problems in theeducational system and the important value of educational documentaries on oureducational reform and development are discussed in this thesis.This paper consists of six parts: The first part introduces the origin, purpose,significance, methodology and literature review of the research; The second partperforms a simple generalization and combing of the development of documentary onChinese educational subjects, and describes the background of its development; Thethird part is an analysis of the historical contribution of the educational documentaries,some typical documentaries in the new century as the study blueprint. The forth partexplains the documentary’s reference to China’s educational development and reform; The fifth part analyzes the development trend of Chinese educational documentary inthe new century; The sixth part is a summary of this article, with discussing themutual promotion and development of the education and the images. Through theabove discussion, this thesis provide a rational thinking for the educational reformand improvement from the dual perspective of image and education, and it willprovide additional images and historical evidences for the study of Chinese education. |
