Abstract/Summary:
"United Provincial Autonomy" ideological trend belonged to bourgeois reformismthoughts in the1920’s; it was close connection with "United Provincial Autonomy"movement led by the provincial local strength, the thoughts was once all the rage."United Provincial Autonomy" ideological trend was outcome which mixed potentialChinese socialist ideology with the federal socialist thoughts abroad, it is theChinese people broke through the feudal thought to structural design of goodwill;reflected people’s pursuit of democracy and the longing for the people. When Hu Shibroke the rules "don’t talk about politics" in his early time, published a series ofunhealthy tendencies in the current politics on "Efforts Weekly", supported "UnitedProvincial Autonomy" unequivocally, and put forward various concrete conceive,promoted the development of "Provincial Autonomy" movement in some extent.This article attempts to make comprehensive investigation about Hu Shi’s idea of"United Provincial Autonomy".Firstly, introduce Hu Shi and "United Provincial Autonomy" briefly. This partlooks for his "hard talk about politics" in favor of the "United Provincial Autonomy"by the political articles or personal diary, and comprehensive consideration itsproportion in order to explore Hu Shi’s transformation process of from "don’t talkabout politics" to "hard talk about politics",Next, the article is divided into three parts to the idea of Hu Shi’s "UnitedProvincial Autonomy" investigation and analysis."United Provincial Autonomy"problem is that Hu Shi was considered a central issue. The first part comparativeanalysis with Sun Yat-sen, Chen Duxiu, Lu xun, Chen Jiong-ming and Wu Peifu,combing out with his individual characteristics, the main point of the outline of thegeneral image of the "United Provincial Autonomy". The second part detailedanalysis of the formation of Hu Shi’s "United Provincial Autonomy" thoughtbackground, both with the domestic warlords infighting is closely related to thesocial condition, and significantly affected by Chinese traditional politics "unification" and the profound influence of the "divide and conquer", also learned atthat time, such as multivariate sovereignty, Dewey pragmatism and other importantelements of the western political philosophy. The third section briefly on Hu Shi"United Provincial Autonomy" thought is evaluated, although just but his firstattempt at political and ideological field, in spite of some idealized put forward a lotof content, but to a certain extent, to promote China’s democratic process, and furthermake Hu Shi has become an important figure in the history of Chinese liberalismspectrum.
