Sixty-nine tombs were excavated in Xingyuan of Yanshi district, most of whichare well preserved and abundant in artifacts. Thereinto thirty seven memorial tombsand forty six epigraph were significant material pertaining to the research on thefamily tombs in Yanshi district. This dissertation mainly focus on social relationshipsand relevant issues reflected from the tombs excavated in the Xingyuan area and havedone the preliminary work based on the archaeological materials represented by thearticle <Tombs of Tang Dynasty in Xingyuan of Yanshi> and combined with theprevious research results.Chapter one: Introduction. This chapter mainly consist of three sections. Thefirst is the narration of the general situation about the discoveries of the Tang tombs inXingyuan and the status quo of the relevant studies. The second sections point out theweak link of the pertaining studies and expounded the significance of the subject, theends of this thesis and the research methodologies. The rest is about the delimitationof the scope of the research subjects and the definition of their concepts.Chapter two: In the this chapter, with the method of archaeological typologybeing utilized, the shape and structure of the Tang tombs in Xingyuan and the burialaccessories are systematically categorized according to their shapes and modescombined with the relevant studies on the calendar tombs and the epitaphs, whichclassifies these Tang tombs into three developmental stages-that is the the heydayperiod, the middle period and the late period of Tang Dynasty.Chapter three: The third chapter mainly analyzes the distributions of tombs indifferent periods of the cemetery and takes emphasis on social relationships-therelations of regions and consanguinity between the occupants of the tombs. Andanalysis the changes of the status of Yanshi district by the official ranks of theoccupants of the tombs. In this chapter, the author, with much reference to thefindings of existing historical research, has done some preliminary explorations of thesocial relationship changes, reflected by relics of the cemetery, in Tang dynasty andfound out the tight bond between the occupants’ relation of region and consanguinity and the changes of the social relationships.Chapter four: This part focuses on the studies of reunion funerals and evocationfunerals.Chapter five: Peroration.
